Atmel IC description

Most of the 51-Core microcontrollers on the market now come from Atmel. Atmel has developed AT89S series MCU with Flash memory embedded after obtaining 51 core. It is a standard 51 core and has gained a lot of China’s market by cheap and good market promotion. Atmel has three series of MCU AT89, AT90, and AT91.

AT89 is an MCU based on 51 core. It is an improved 51 MCU. For example, the standard 8051 microcontroller does not have a 20pin encapsulated chip. But AT89C2051 and AT89C4051 are MCU encapsulated in 20pin. It omitted the original 51 MCU’s P0 port and P2 port and then improved some functions. AT89 has many models. For example, AT89C51, AT89S51, AT89C52, AT89S52, AT89S8252 (the latter are 8052 microcontrollers, but compatible with the 8051 instruction system, only add some functions, can also be considered as 51 series microcontrollers). For AT89 series microcontrollers, they are all FLASH microcontrollers. The burning times are at least 1000 times (data manual provided, actually estimated to be more than 4000) as long as the microcontroller with the word “s” on the chip can support ISP (on-line burning).

AT90 series microcontroller mainly corresponds to AVR microcontroller (this is Atmel’s main microcontroller). AVR is divided into three categories. Attiny Series, AT90 Series, and ATmega Series correspond to the low-grade, middle-grade, and high-grade Microcontrollers in AVR. Now some AT90 series microcontrollers have been transformed into the Attiny series and ATmega series. All AVR microcontrollers support ISP. And AVR MCU is a RISC (simplified instruction) type single chip. 51 MCU is CISC (centralized teaching) type MCU. The function of AVR MCU is much more vital than 51.

AT91 series MCU mainly corresponds to high-end 32-bit ARM MCU. In general, the ARM7 core is used, and ARM is the mainstream MCU in 32 bits of the embedded system.
